Tips for your stay on the Val Senales/Schnalstal glacier

Many top athletes set off year after year to do altitude training on the Val Senales/Schnalstal glacier during their preparation stages. And for a good reason: a stay at high altitudes not only frees the mind, but it also has a positive effect on the entire body. You will soon notice this when you spend your holiday at our mountain hotel in South Tyrol.

The air becomes thinner as the altitude increases. The decrease in pressure and oxygen affects virtually all body functions. Slight headaches, a weak feeling in the stomach, shortness of breath, mild dizziness, and difficulties sleeping are completely normal and no cause for concern. The body has to get used to the altitude. Usually, the symptoms disappear after a few hours, provided that you give the body the necessary rest it needs to acclimatise. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to do so. How about a short break on the sun terrace of our hotel in Val Senales/Schnalstal?

After a short time, your body will be back in action. During a stay at more than 3,212 metres above sea level, more red blood cells are produced. As a result, more oxygen is transported through your body and muscles, resulting in a significant increase in performance. In addition, fat metabolism is stimulated, and the recovery time after exercise is shortened. You will feel fitter than ever before after just a short period at 3,000 metres. So, what are you waiting for? Book your rejuvenating cell therapy on the glacier now.

Tips so that the altitude doesn’t get to you

  1. Take it slow. The mountains won’t run away from you. After your arrival at our mountain hotel in South Tyrol, sit down on the terrace, marvel at the panorama, and give your body a break.
  2. Drink a lot of water. For every 1,000 metres, you need an extra litre of liquid because your body loses more water as you breathe more intensively.
  3. Make sure you consume a sufficient amount of electrolytes.
  4. Have a light meal. Our kitchen team knows what you need at this height and prepares tasty dishes for you, which will please you.
  5. Avoid going to the sauna on the first day.
  6. If you suffer from cardiovascular diseases, please consult a doctor before your stay.
