Cross-Country Skiing in South Tyrol
High-Altitude Training on the Ski Trail
The Val Senales Valley has one of the highest-situated cross-country skiing trails of the Alps on the glacier at an altitude of about 3,050 m above sea level. It is no coincidence that the best cross-country skiers and biathletes meet here for training before the cross-country season starts. Depending on the conditions, between 5-7 km are groomed for skating and classic.
In the colder winter months a 2 km-long trail – classic and skating – is prepared in Lazaun at an altitude of 2,450 m above sea level. Here you can make your rounds in absolute solitude on a high plain.
In winters with much snow, a circuit is additionally groomed beneath the pilgrimage church in Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau at 1,500 m above sea level.
